FARMER MINOR & DAISY "PIG OUT ON READING"

How many pigs like to be read to? Daisy does and her mission is.......
"TO ENCOURAGE YOUNGSTERS TO DEVELOP A LOVE FOR READING"
as she and Farmer Minor present their "Pig Out on Reading" programs across the U.S.

Farmer Minor & Daisy (the "World's Most Famous Pig'') come from their Family Farm,
"Minor's Farm", Bristol, Connecticut's oldest continuously operating farm.

As one newspaper wrote in a two-page, seven color photo
feature spread about Daisy.......

She is "SOME PIG!" ....... and She "INSPIRES CHILDREN TO READ!"

After all, Daisy became the first pig ever invited inside the U.S. Capitol while on her 1st National Tour in 2002. She also received her own letter from First Lady, Laura Bush. Hosted by CT Congresswoman Nancy Johnson, Daisy has met U.S. Legislators, Foreign Dignitaries and a variety of Celebrities. Daisy is also the only pig to have hundreds of Library cards from Libraries & Schools across the U.S.

Daisy has been in newspapers around the world, TV news coast to coast and has been in Weekly Reader & Time For Kids! She's had songs, poems and raps written about her. She's been kissed by countless #'s of School Principals, Teachers, Librarians, Business Executives, Mayors, Celebrities and hundreds of thousands of school children! People kiss Daisy for a number of reasons ranging from promises kept to students for reading lots of books to fundraising efforts on behalf of non-profit groups, but mostly, just for the wonderful love of Daisy when people meet her!

Daisy has presented programs in all 48 contiguous states and has been on 3 National Tours!

On Dec. 18, 2006, Daisy made "Nationally Syndicated TV" as she was a featured guest on the Montel Williams Show in NYC.

While most of Daisy's work deals with reading programs, she also presents programs at Senior Centers, Assisted Living Facilities, Convalescent Homes, Churches and more! She's been a "Keynote Speaker" at a major East Coast Farm Marketing Conference. Other Daisy notables include being featured in Bristol's 2002 Community Calendar, serving as the mascot in a "March Against Hunger" and making her music world debut on the CD cover of "Big Fun on the Hog Farm" by River City Slim & the Zydeco Hogs (Daisy's favorite Zydeco band)

Farmer Minor does storytelling about Daisy's formative years (all true) with Farmer & Mrs. Minor. We share Daisy noises, give Daisy a treat, and talk about Daisy's pampered porcine life and about how she became the most famous pig. Farmer Minor brings his own rocking chair and many of Daisy's newspaper articles on posters and of course, many of her favorite pig books. Daisy probably has the world's largest collection of "pig books". Based on the age and # of children, Farmer Minor selects a book that the children can help read to Daisy or with older children, tells a story of one of Daisy's favorite books. At the end of the program, following the Daisy pledge, all are able to pet Daisy and receive a pig stamp on their hands. Willing Principals, Librarians, Teachers, etc. will be able to give Daisy a BIG SMOOCH as part of a reading incentive, summer reading program or simply because they want to kiss the "most famous pig in the whole world!"

"Bookings" have started for the 2008-2009 school year as well as for our 2009 Library "Summer Reading" Tour. Pease give Daisy an "Oink" or an e-mail soon!
